History | American Hotel Academy

Establishing the institution

American Hotel Academy was founded in 2007 in Brasov, Romania as the first international hotel management school in the country. At its early beginnings, the school was delivering short term certificate programs specifically designed for line level and middle management hotel & restaurant staff.

From vocational to higher education

– the school decides to step up to higher education, therefore started a comprehensive strategy to improve the quality of its educational programs by:
– affiliating to the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute (AHLEI) and implementing the teaching methodology, educational resources and certificates from this well known institute.
– entering a partnership with Manchester Metropolitan University and starting an extensive validation process through which the academy gradually aligned its internal quality standards to those of Manchester Metropolitan University’s, with the final objective of delivering undergraduate and graduate programs in its campus in Brasov in partnership with the above mentioned university.

American Hotel Academy is appointed accredited teaching center by the Confederation of Tourism & Hospitality, British awarding body for qualifications in hospitality and tourism.

April – American Hotel Academy completes the validation process with Manchester Metropolitan University for the Master of Science International Business Hospitality & Tourism Management program.

Meanwhile, the school signs several academic partnerships with different hospitality & business schools, among which Manhattan Institute of Management (New York, USA) and International Hotel Management Institute in Switzerland for student exchange opportunities and collaboration in creating new hospitality and business educational programs, conferences and seminars.

Going Global

the school decides to enhance its international focus, with the first two steps of this strategy to be completed in 2014:

March – the academy will redesign its educational programs in order to make them available on a larger scale to international students.

April – American Hotel Academy is scheduled to open its first study center abroad. This will be located downtown Manhattan in New York City, within Manhattan Institute of Management, as a result of a strong partnership and a stepping stone for mutual future benefits for both institutions.

New Partnerships

In 2015, American Hotel Academy signed a new partnership with HOSCO – the online platform that helps the students to find suitable internships for them (internships from all over the world) and jobs in the hospitality industry. HOSCO is the online platform that connects students, alumni, schools and employers from the hospitality industry with each other.
