Claire Vasta | American Hotel Academy

Position: Associate Lecturer

Short biography

Some of my earliest and fondest memories are rooted in hospitality – at six years of age I recall working in my Mom’s Italian deli, and several years later assisted with the cooking and   serving of the food for 350 pax at my parent’s supper theatre venue.

In 1996 I began studying Food and Beverage at the Technikon Witwatersrand, a world class hospitality training provider in South Africa, at which I later became a lecturer. Highlights of my career include captaining the South African culinary team at the Junior Culinary Olympics in Maastricht, Holland (we achieved a Gold medal for our efforts) and working as a pastry chef at the famed Savoy Hotel in London.

I am passionate about all aspects of Food and Beverage and love sharing knowledge and expertise with younger talent.
