Unit description
This unit explains the issues surrounding the need for individualized security programs, examines a wide variety of security and safety equipment and procedures, discusses guest protection and internal security for asset protection, explores risk management and loss prevention issues.
Unit learning outcomes
On successful completion of this unit students will be able to:
1. Identify and explain the various equipments, methods of staffing, record keeping and risk management programs.
2.Identify and explain the purposes of security procedures that deal with guest protection and internal control and discuss the legal concerns and the emergency procedures.
3.Explain the key issues in developing and setting up a security program, including law enforcement liaisons and security staffing.
4.Describe various types of safety equipment and how they can help protect lodging properties and their staff and guests.
5.Describe the security and safety issues for facilities with swimming pools, health/fitness services, and gaming areas.
6.Demonstrate appropriate steps for denying credit to guests.
