Unit description
This course tackles the concept of culture, one of the most important notions in sociology, as a means to better understanding and managing differences in people's values, beliefs and practices. Emphasis is on demonstrating acceptance, respect and understanding of diverse cultural behaviours as a means to building harmonious interpersonal relationships in a multicultural hospitality workplace, and how culture influences the business environment.
Unit learning outcomes
On successful completion of this unit students will be able to:
1.Understand and analyse the concept of culture and how it plays a major role in the hospitality industry
2.Evaluate work issues related to culture that might affect the well being of the hospitality organisation
