AMERICAN HOTEL ACADEMY offers to post-secondary students enrolled in hotel management schools or in public / private universities in Romania or abroad in a 2-year diploma programme or in a 3-year degree programme specializing in Tourism, Hospitality Management, or related, the possibility to transfer to the undergraduate programme Bachelor of Arts (Hons) International Hotel Business Management - subject to validation – offered by our school in partnership with Manchester Metropolitan University.
The candidates are suggested to see the Credit Transfer Policy below and the Transfer Applicants page from Admission section.
1. The student has to apply formally for equivalency, giving all the required documents according to credit transfer procedure, with at least 15 days ahead of targeted semester's starting day.
2. On student's demand, a subject's credits can be registered equivalent to those obtained on a subject with equivalent domain, on which the student had a passing mark.
3. Our institution does not accept credits obtained by studying online courses other than through American Hotel Academy.
4. The students can transfer credits from universities with degree studies of at least 3 years or from post secondary institutions for hotel management with at least 2 years of study programmes.
5. The international credits will be registered as equivalent according to procedure only if the curriculas of the implied educational institutions are compatible.
6. The credits registered equivalent are considered to be obtained in the semester when their subject is comprised in the curricula and schedule for which the credits are used.
7. The Evaluation Committee, established at the begining of every academic year, is able to decide whether the credits obtained in other institutions receive equivalency. The Committee's decision is final and cannot be subject of change.
8. The equivalency is made considering the curricula's items of the subject which needs to be recognized as equivalent (objective, content, evaluation, textbooks etc.), near the curricula of the subject as it is found in our institution. The overlaping of the two has to be at least of 80% for equivalency to be considered.
8. The marks are given equivalency in the evaluation system used by American Hotel Academy.
9. The following courses CANNOT be given equivalency because of their strong practical specific:
1. Front Office Management
2. Gastronomy & Culinary Arts
3. Food & Beverage Service Management
4. Housekeeping Operations Management
5. Security and Loss Prevention Management
6. Hospitality Facilities Management & Design
7. Hospitality Software
8. Career Development
10. Only subjects from the first 2 years of studies can be considered for equivalency. Because of the particularities of the curricula of the last year, strongly connected with Manchester Metropolitan University, no subject of last year will be considered for equivalency.
11. Every credit transfer is considered only if the student knows English at least at UPPER-INTERMEDIATE level.
