Unit description
This course is designed to provide students with the principles of housekeeping management as they specifically to the hospitality industry. It shows what it takes to direct day-to-day operations of this department, from big-picture management issues to technical details for cleaning each area.
Unit learning outcomes
On successful completion of this unit students will be able to:
1.Understand the role of Housekeeping in Hospitality Organizations.
2.Explain the steps that hospitality properties can take to become more energy efficient
1.Explain how to follow environmentally sound procedures for sustainable housekeeping.
1.Understand how to plan and organize the work of the Housekeeping Department
2.Understand the budgeting processes and controlling expenses
3.Know how to plan and manage an on premises laundry
4.Demonstrate the procedures for all housekeeping operations, the flow of cleaning and the use of different substances.
5.Understand the lost and found procedures and key control safety issues
