Venice is a dream destination, not only for tourists, but also for the employees and interns. Among the interns, last year, there were twenty-three lucky American Hotel Academy students. Why lucky? Because it is nothing but a privilege to take the water taxi or the water bus, every day, to go to work and to admire the incredible early morning city view, when Venice’s 400 bridges are not crowded with visitors yet…

The benefits for working at JW Marriott, in the most romantic city in the world, are also related to the monthly payment, the accommodation, the daily meal, uniforms and medical insurance.

JW Marriott Venice has approximately 300 employees and each year it offers 60 positions for trainees in various departments. This year, two American Hotel Academy students succeeded to be the finalists for the Best Trainees of the year: Bogdan Beliban and Andreea Grigore, currently both 2nd year students.

Starting with March 2015, when JW Marriott Venice was inaugurated, tourists from all around the world were delighted with the excellent 5 stars hotel services and the unique privacy of an exclusive island.  The professional attitude of the staff is a great opportunity for the interns to learn.

Today, Mrs. Cristina Dragan, Assistant HR Director at JW Marriott Venice and Mrs. Roberta Poso, HR Coordinator came to recruit and to speak with the 1st year students from American Hotel Academy.

An important piece of information for the applicants is that the Italian language is not a mandatory requirement, as 70% of the tourists are Americans. There are some other skills that are of great importance – these are connected with the enthusiasm, the willingness to learn, the genuine smile and the positive attitude.

Once arrived in ‘Isola delle Rose’ (the Roses’ Island), in ‘San Marco Lagoon’, all interns and employees are rigorously trained in order to be able to align with the standards of the excellent service, “beyond the expectations” as Mrs. Dragan was explaining to the 1st year students.

JW Marriott is one of the most famous hotel brand in the world with more than 500 hotels located in 180 countries. 85 years ago John Willard Marriott and his wife Alice started a small business with the desire to make a difference in their lives and in the lives of others.
