A Field Trip Full of Learning, History, Wine and Meaningful Connections
Our students recently had the incredible opportunity to visit Jidvei, accompanied by two of our colleagues, including our Academic Director, who is also a wine lover. This wasn’t just a field trip-it was a hands-on learning experience, a cultural immersion and a chance for students to bond in ways that go far beyond the classroom.
During the visit, they met Mr. Ioan Buia, Director of Vinification at Jidvei, who shared the secrets of wine production, including the fascinating ice wine, crafted from grapes harvested in -7°C to -20°C. Students gained insight into both the science and artistry behind winemaking, while learning how patience, precision and care make all the difference.
The day also included a tour of the Bethlen-Haller Castle, a Renaissance gem built between 1615–1624 and later restored, where students were able to step back in time and experience centuries of history firsthand. From the castle’s architecture to the stories of the families who lived there, every corner offered inspiration and perspective.
Beyond learning about wine and history, the students shared meals, laughter and moments of reflection, strengthening their connections with each other and with mentors. These experiences remind us that education is not just about knowledge-it’s about curiosity, teamwork and creating bonds that last a lifetime.
