Rooted in both theory and practical application, our curriculum covers event planning, execution, and evaluation, alongside modules focusing on sponsorship, risk and crisis management.

    The postgraduate events course at AHA places a strong emphasis on industry relevance.     Programme Structure

    The Programme is comprised of a core 8-month Postgraduate Executive Diploma delivered in an online format and an online Top Up Entrepreneurial Action (Major Project).

    Each taught unit is delivered over 4 consecutive weeks, having 2 teaching sessions of 4-5 hours each, over each Saturday and Sunday. Except for Strategic Management which will run for 8 months, having several components.

    The Strategic Management unit will include a mentoring scheme and a programme exit interview with a panel of faculty and industry professionals.

    How you will learn

    The Level 7 is a 120 credit, 480 Guided Learning Hours (1200 TQT) programme comprised of 8 professionally oriented modules. More than 140 hours are dedicated to activities facilitating students’ engagement with the events industry.
    The top-up pathway is a 60-credit research unit.

    The Mentoring Scheme

    Master Students will get a chance to enhance their employability skills and start to build their professional networks, as mentors pass on their knowledge, expertise, and experience to support students’ career paths. The scheme matches each student with a suitable mentor, giving them the opportunity to meet at a minimum of 4 times in a span of 5 months (Jan-May). More information about the scheme will be available soon.

    Event LYNK

    Event LYNK aims to enhance our students' future career prospects by providing a variety of initiatives and networking opportunities within the event industry. These include guest lectures, conferences, masterclasses, an industry mentorship program, and an event industry simulation game. The networking opportunities will allow aspiring event professionals to engage with fellow students from different international event programs, as well as connect with industry specialists.

    Work experience is optional, and open throughout the duration of the programme. Students who do require the customized placement service must be aware that placement opportunities will differ based on each candidate’s educational background and professional experience:

    Fees & Scholarships

    Tuition has been designed with affordability and flexibility in mind. Monthly instalments which spread throughout 16 months considerably reduce the financial burden so students can work and cover their tuition as they progress through the programme and therefore graduate without debt.

    Entry Requirements

    We are seeking enthusiastic candidates, who would like to attend an international business management programme with focus on events, who are proficient in English and who have a real potential for a successful future career in this industry.
    We appreciate candidates who are creative and skill oriented, as well as those who love being organized or leaders, who are pragmatic, entrepreneur-minded and energetic.
    Academic Background

    Candidates must hold:

    1. A bachelor’s degree in hospitality, tourism or a business management-related subject from a recognised university, or
    2. Other recognised relevant qualification at Level 6, or
    3. Any bachelor’s degree plus a minimum of 5 years of evidenced relevant professional experience.
    English Requirements

    All students without English as a first language must hold at least IELTS 6.5 / TOEFL 79-93 / CAE 176 / DET 120 / Pearson 58 or other evidence of competence in English at this level such as a university letter stating the bachelor programme was studied in English.

    Interview

    All candidates undergo an interview assessing suitability for the programme1.

    1 AHA graduates holding either a Level 6 CTH qualification or a bachelor’s degree in Hospitality or Business are exempt from the interview and the English requirements.

Additionally, he has worked with the events industry on a range of industry projects and his research interest includes work based integrated learning.

    Pamela Reckert | Academic Associate

    Pamela is an international hospitality business management lecturer at Manchester Metropolitan University. She teaches across the programme with foundation, undergraduate and postgraduate students. She specialised in Sales and Marketing, Customer Service, Operations, Revenue Management, People Management and Development, Technology and Innovation, Corporate Hospitality Events and Cross-Cultural Management. She is also a personal tutor for the business and law foundation students and a dissertation supervisor for the Operations PG students.

    Her background is 25 years in the Hotel and Travel industry, having worked across different departments in different brands. Internationally in the Seychelles and Abu Dhabi and in the UK in London and Glasgow. She worked for Hilton, Marriott, Shangri-la and smaller independent groups. She spent her last two years in the industry working for Corporate travel management as a client services manager.

    She has a passion for Hospitality and developing the future team members of the industry.

    Paul Walters | Academic Associate


    Paul Walters is currently the Co-Founder of several companies in sport and events. Alongside that he is also the Programme leader for Business management with Sport at the University of Salford. Paul has an employment history that spans over 25 years within the area of music management, exhibition design/build, management of major outdoor music festivals, project management, touring theatre management, film production, sponsorship/marketing and major sporting events at an international and national level.

    Paul’s area of proficiency over the past ten years has enabled him to be instrumental in developing Event Management courses at degree and master’s level. Over that period, he secured the position of programme leader at 4 UK universities and teaching the same subject over an accumulative period of 12 years at 5 European universities. They include ANGELL Business School in Germany, Ecole de Management de Normandie institute in Paris, France, IMI University Centre Switzerland, Breda University of Applied Sciences, and University of Northern Denmark. Paul also recently taught at the Guangdong Industry Technical College in China to undergraduate event management students. He is a published author within the field of event management with several publishers. Paul is an active event professional who enjoys consulting and researching on events.

    Jonathan Sibley | Academic Associate

    Jonathan is an experienced Senior Lecturer with a demonstrated history of working in the global higher education industry. His speciality subject areas include Event Operations and Production, Digital Event Technology and Sport Event Management.

    Interested in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in sport/football and events Jonathan has publications, which relate to diverse subjects, ranging from Futsal to CSR in the meetings industry. He is also involved in collaborative research projects relating to the Street Child Cricket World Cup and the Commodification of Football Sport Community Trusts.

    As an event professional Jonathan has over 10 years’ experience of planning and delivering sport/community events for a professional football club as well as corporate events, festivals and exhibitions on behalf of clients such as the National Trust.

    Janine is a Senior Lecturer in Events Management, with over 15 years’ teaching experience in Higher Education. She specialises in curriculum innovation, assessment design, and embedding inclusivity into academic practice. Janine has managed initiatives such as live event projects that enhance student employability and foster strong community engagement, and has shared her experience to guide colleagues in adopting inclusive and authentic assessment strategies. Passionate about inclusivity, Janine’s current research interest is ‘Sense of belonging’ in relation to enhancing student experience. Her work exemplifies a commitment to quality standards in education, bridging theory and current industry practice to inspire students and colleagues alike.

    Rob Bagust | Academic Associate

    Rob has 30 years of experience in many diverse roles in the meetings and events industry. With a historical focus on the pharmaceutical, finance, automotive and technology sectors, in both corporate and agency roles, Rob has transitioned to teaching over the last few years.

    Before starting his career as a university lecturer, Rob held Leadership positions with Bristol-Myers Squibb, AstraZeneca, Goldman Sachs and Emirates, overseeing both global event strategy and operations.

    Rob also started his own consulting business in 2023 and balances teaching with work to advise clients on their strategic approach to events along with supporting start-up companies in the meetings and events space, alongside more broad consulting work.

    Rob believes that events are the most impactful choice when it comes to sharing messages, motivating staff or partners and for engaging clients. This belief guides his teaching and future research ambitions and teaching focus currently is on marketing, sponsorship, leadership, operations, and business events.
